GSS offices in Mataró

In these offices, industrial style and biophilia go hand in hand to create a friendly working environment that encourages creativity.

Metal, vegetation and wood are the protagonists of this interior design project for the new offices of the security systems installation company GSS Security in Mataró (Barcelona). The client was not very clear about the aesthetic and functional orientation of his project, we opted for an accentuated industrial style, very cozy and with a futuristic touch, which harmonizes with the cutting-edge technology offered by the company GSS Security. Concrete ceilings with exposed beams, along with the voluminous and bright air conditioning ducts, are shown without ornamentation or embellishments to show the naked beauty of the structural elements. The large windows are made of black painted iron carpentry. The waiting room obeys a somewhat eclectic style, sparkling and futuristic, with elements such as the construction of a large metal bunker in double sheet stainless steel brightness that goes from floor to ceiling, perforated with large circles. Also very industrial, another of the walls covered by a melanin board paneling in concrete effect, topped by a strip of warm white LED lighting and a framed Moderna Musseet graphic of the iconic Yoko Ono. Different dividers, half-height, made of metal structure and covered by wooden slats and illuminated with warm LED strips and decorated with natural plants, offer warmth and freshness and give way to a large open-space work area. In this area, in addition to performing an important aesthetic work, functionality has been exploited to the maximum, something essential in an office interior design project. On the one hand, using resources such as the raised floor, on which a dark wood-effect PVC flooring has been installed, and on the other hand, working on acoustics, thanks to separators between the workstations formed by metal profiles and micro-perforated metal sheeting. Likewise, five square panels with acoustic function have been arranged on the back wall, made of felt in different shades of gray backlit with LEDs, forming a large luminaire. Lighting is another key point of the project, so the workstations have custom-made fluted pendant luminaires for the project, with details such as the milled company logo, dark and metallic tones dominate the bathroom: black doors, glossy black ceramic square tile cladding alternating with a gray cladding made of zinc sheets on the ceiling and walls The dining-kitchen area follows the industrial style of the project, although the warmth of the oak wood of the large table and its chairs gives a cozy look to the whole. The most noble area of the offices, the management office, is where the futuristic air is more casual. The furniture stands out for playing with metallic reflections, with a predominance of curved lines and a neutral color palette that combines black and white. The shelving designed by Alex March stands out, made of shiny stainless steel, with six large circular openings as shelves. The black iron carpentry with vinyl glass is the common denominator for compartmentalizing offices, as it allows light to pass through but at the same time offers privacy. For the flooring in these areas, gray carpeting has been chosen, installed over raised flooring, for its greater safety for the worker, greater comfort and better insulation. In the meeting room, the floor is made of black iron, installed on a raised floor. In this area, where the bare ceiling is also of industrial style as in the whole project, wood is the allied material to achieve affability and comfort. Thus, one of the walls has been covered with oak wood paneling, topped with a warm white LED strip for added warmth. The large meeting table is also made with an oak wood top and has built-in connections.
